Edge-disjoint double rays in infinite graphs: A Halin type result

We show that any graph that contains k edge-disjoint double rays for any k ∈ N contains also infinitely many edge-disjoint double rays. This was conjectured by Andreae in 1981.

Strong edge-coloring for cubic Halin graphs

A strong edge-coloring of a graph G is a function that assigns to each edge a color such that two edges within distance two apart must receive different colors. The minimum number of colors used in a strong edge-coloring is the strong chromatic index of G. Lih and Liu [14] proved that the strong chromatic index of a cubic Halin graph, other than two special graphs, is 6 or 7. It remains an open...

On a problem of R. Halin concerning infinite graphs II

For every countable, connected graph A containing no one-way infinite path the following is shown: Let G be an arbitrary graph which contains for every positive integer n a system of n disjoint graphs each isomorphic to a subdivision of A. Then G also contains infinitely many disjoint subgraphs each isomorphic to a subdivision of A. In addition, corrections of errors are given that occur unfort...

Edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles in random graphs

We show that provided log n/n ≤ p ≤ 1 − n−1/4 log n we can with high probability find a collection of bδ(G)/2c edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles in G ∼ Gn,p, plus an additional edge-disjoint matching of size bn/2c if δ(G) is odd. This is clearly optimal and confirms, for the above range of p, a conjecture of Frieze and Krivelevich.

Edge Disjoint Paths in Moderately Connected Graphs

We study the Edge Disjoint Paths (EDP) problem in undirected graphs: Given a graph G with n nodes and a set T of pairs of terminals, connect as many terminal pairs as possible using paths that are mutually edge disjoint. This leads to a variety of classic NP-complete problems, for which approximability is not well understood. We show a polylogarithmic approximation algorithm for the undirected ...
